Founded in 1832, Yale University Art Gallery is the oldest university art museum in the United States. The Gallery completed a major renovation to its three historic buildings in 2012, improving access to its extensive collection of more than 200,000 objects ranging in date from prehistory to the present.
We were approached to redesign their website with the challenge of integrating two existing websites into a single cohesive experience. Our solution includes a detailed collections-search tool, provides straightforward access to important information about events, exhibitions, and public programs, while also implements a rich platform for each department to communicate information about their collections and work. The Continue Exploring feature opens informal points of entry into the museum's collections and draws connections between disparate content on the site, combining curation with serendipity to increase visitor engagement.
