Glenstone Museum

Originally designed by the late Charles Gwathmey and opened in 2006, Glenstone showcases an iconic collection of post-World War II art throughout its campus in Potomac, Maryland. Led by founders Emily and Mitch Rales, the museum fuses architecture, art, and nature in serene respite. A vastly expanded experience was unveiled in 2018 featuring a stunning new building by Thomas Phifer Associates designed to house exhibition pavilions dedicated to individual artists, art storage, and foundation offices set in a landscape by Peter Walker Landscape Architects. 2x4 designed a holistic visitor experience for the museum, including a brand strategy and identity, and site-wide signage and wayfinding for all galleries and the museum grounds.
