The Clark

Set on 140 acres in Williamstown, Massachusetts, the Clark is a world-class museum and institute for research in the visual studies and art conservation that is part of Williams College. Our ongoing work spans the original re-branding of the museum in 2004, supporting print materials, collateral, advertising, retail product, new building and trail signage for the Stone Hill Center in 2008, and a new campus wide signage plan for the new Clark Center, designed by architect Tadao Ando which opened in 2014.

The comprehensive signage program includes a full wayfinding system, campus and trail signage, a large scale donor program, and multiple digital platforms. Outside, a large digital pylon brands the museum, and provides program and exhibition information. A visitors area orients guests to the expansive, multi-building campus beginning with Tadao Ando’s Clark Center. Inside, the admissions desk features an integrated digital display which informs visitors of the current and upcoming programming at the museum. Subtle animations and imagery work in unison to complement the surrounding architecture and landscape while providing in-depth information. Other digital content populates the museum to provide more in depth information throughout the galleries.
