Agon, writer/director Giulio Bertelli’s debut feature film, premiered at the Venice Film Festival in August 2025. The narrative follows three fictional female athletes – including one played by Paris ‘24 gold medalist, judoka Alice Bellandi – struggling to reach an imagined Olympic Games, in a genre-defying display Bertelli describes as “techno realism.” We partnered with Bertelli and team on design and key visuals for the film.
The film is set against the backdrop of the international sporting event: Ludoj 2024. Partnering with Bertelli, we had the unique opportunity to design an Olympic-esque identity for an imaginary event in an imaginary city. We derived our non-metropolis from the Esperanto word for “games” and set it as the antithesis to Paris ‘24: no audience, no exterior, only the requisite regalia, broadcast bumpers, and live-action streaming from a highly-branded athletic sound stage. Our identity system is at once familiar and slightly off – an Olympics without hard edges – following an internal logic that matches Bertelli’s ultra-detailed alternate universe.
