Our world is facing a climate crisis. This fact is top of mind for Italian contract furniture manufacturer Arper. While the company has an impressive fifteen-year history attaining benchmark certifications for its low environmental impact, these efforts had yet to be communicated coherently to the public. Working closely with Arper, 2x4 developed a communications strategy to establish the brand’s point of view and set forth a vision to move forward.
A re-thinking of the industry’s typical greenwashing was in order. In contrast, Arper’s approach would emphasize its commitment to sharing its environmental mission and data openly and plainly, making realistic and incremental improvements, remaining transparent and highly credible.
The approach debuted at the Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair 2020 under the theme, “Designing the World We Live In” along with a campaign on social media sharing the brand’s insights with wider audiences. Also underway is a five-year plan with short-term tactics including a partnership with architecture platform The World Around as well as aspirational goals that will become increasingly achievable in the years to come.
